There has been much talk about Toyota bringing in the mini Innova every now and then. Finally, it looks like the wait will be over somewhere around the end of this year with the Toyota Avanza launch. This model will feature 7 seats, and will somewhat be a mix of an MUV and SUV. Although it is considered to be a downgrade of Innova, the car will feature a lot of comfort and conveniences, including a comfortable boot space, smoking taillight along with LED daytime running lights, UV reduction glass with defogger and wiper, etc. The panoramic glass roof with flared-up wheel arches, power lift gate, body-coloured door handles, etc., together with give the Avanza a panache.
The all-new Toyota Avanza will be competing with the likes of Chevrolet Tavera, Mahindra Bolero, Maruti Ertiga, etc. Ertiga has been doing brilliantly well in this segment and thus it will be a tough nut for Avanza to crack. The other three as well are seen as popular people carriers. All in all, Avanza will not have it easy. Will it be able to make a mark for itself like its older sibling? Well, we will have to wait and watch.
The Toyota Avanza 2016 specifications would include a 1495 cc engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission that will be capable of producing 109 bhp at 6000 rpm approximately along with 141 Nm at 4400 rpm. With the DOHC engine, Toyota Avanza mileage will be around 11.2 kmpl – 15.8 kmpl. The car isn’t going to be very heavy and thus one can expect good mileage. The ground clearance of the vehicle is going to be around 180 mm.
Toyota Avanza will have to meet very high expectation because of its older sibling. The latter is a much-loved car, and has been doing brilliantly well over the years owing to its excellent space, powerful engine and comfortable interiors. Avanza will predictably be compared to it. Even though it will be in a different segment altogether, the comparison is inevitable. So far, Avanza looks tempting with its features and mileage, but how it is welcomed will be worth a watch.
