At the recent launch event of the Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin, the brand has revealed that they are planning to launch new 500cc bikes in Nepal later this year. The CBR500R is one of the most popular 500cc Honda bikes and it would be the next big thing from the Japanese brand for the Nepalese market. The 2020 model of the CBR500R sports bike is equipped with an all-new front cowl that features two brilliant LED headlights.
The turn indicators look neat and are mounted on the inner layer of the fairing. The side profile flaunts a big bike feel with a single exhaust, a sharp tail section, and a massive fuel tank with a visibly-connecting dual-tone under-seat panel. The front end of the bike comes with a huge petal disc brake and visible ABS ring while the rear disc is decently-sized in comparison to other rivals of this segment.
The powerful 471cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine on the 2020 Honda CBR500R is good for 47HP for maximum power at 8600 rpm along with a peak torque of 43Nm @ 6500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission which is further mated to an assist and slipper clutch.
The CBR500R comes with a 120-section front and a 160-section rear tyre size, further getting a dual-channel ABS unit for safer riding. The fuel tank measures 17.1-litres while Honda claims that the sports bike is able to deliver 28.6kmpl of mileage. When launched in Nepal, the new CBR500R would be priced somewhere around 20 to 25 lakhs.
The Nepalese market is about to witness the launch of 4 new 500cc premium Honda bikes in 2020 and the CBR500R is one of them. The launch of the CB300R, CRF1100L and the CBR650R has further confirmed that Honda has aggressive plans to increase its lineup in the premium motorcycle segment.
