Honda NXR 160 is an affordable adventure bike that the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer is gearing up to launch in the Nepalese market. With a 160 cc engine onboard this bike is not the as mundane performer as the regular commuter, but not as powerful and pricey as the bigger engine powered high-end adventure bikes. So far, this bike has been developed for those customers, who want to feel the thrill of the adventure biking, but doesn’t have a deep pocket.
In Nepal, adventure bikes are seeing increasing demand and Honda is expecting to see the good response with this model upon its launch. It comes with a bold and eye-catching design that draws attention very easily. The bike takes design inspiration from the bigger adventure models sitting in Honda’s product lineup.
It gets a raised high positioned front mudguard, a compact and powerful headlamp. The analogue and digital instrument cluster add zing to the bike, while the large 12-litre capacity fuel tank ensures a decently long range without refuelling. A low positioned rider seat is there, while the pillion rider seat comes with slightly stepped up appearance. A split grab rail is there and the bike offers provision to fit panniers at both sides of the narrow tail section. A compact taillight is also there adding style to the bike.
As the bike is meant for some tough jobs on treacherous terrains, it comes with a higher ground clearance and the exhaust pipe to is positioned higher, right under the tail. It runs on multi-spoke wheels, wrapped with off-road-spec tyres. So far, the bike comes pretty attractively from every angle and it will certainly be able to draw the attention of the young generation buyers moving towards the adventure bike category.
Speaking about its engine, the bike will come powered by a 162.7 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, four-stroke, OHC motor that is capable of churning out 14.3 bhp of peak power at 8,500 rpm and 14.3 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine will be coupled with a 5-speed gearbox that ensures smooth shifting.
For braking duty, Honda NXR 160 will get disc brakes on both front and rear wheels. Speaking about suspension setup, there will be telescopic front forks and monoshock absorber at the back. However, ABS is unlikely to be offered in this model to keep pricing down. But, the safety-enhancing feature could be available as an option though. While the Hero Impulse 150 has been discontinued , the NXR 160 could snatch away some sales figure from the upcoming Hero XPulse 200.
Expect the Honda NXR 160 adventure bike to offer generous fuel efficiency around 40 kmpl or above. The Honda NXR 160 will certainly come offering smooth acceleration and it will also offer great satisfying performance at an affordable pricing, making itself a very attractive machine on two wheels. Clearly, Honda will make sure, this bike comes as value for money and it doesn’t end up burning too much fuel.
