The ongoing monsoon season has severely impacted road connectivity across Nepal. Multiple major highways have been fully or partially blocked due to relentless rainfall, landslides, and flooding. We’ve compiled a comprehensive and up-to-date list of all road disruptions reported by the Traffic Police Division, including both national and regional routes.

Overview of Road Disruptions in Nepal

Nepal’s complex terrain and seasonal rainfall make its roads vulnerable during monsoon months. Several highways across the provinces including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim  have been disrupted due to heavy downpours. Travelers, transporters, and emergency responders must remain vigilant and stay updated.


Koshi Province: Full Closure of Koshi Highway

📍 Bhotekhola Rural Municipality-4, Barun Region (Sankhuwasabha)

  • Road Affected: Koshi Highway (H08)

  • Status: ❌ Fully Blocked

  • Cause: Continuous heavy rainfall has triggered severe landslides in the Barun area, rendering the route impassable.


Bagmati Province: Border Highway Cut Off by Floods

📍 Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-2 (Rasuwa)

  • Road Affected: Pasang Lhamu Highway (H12)

  • Status: ❌ Fully Blocked

  • Cause: Flooding has destroyed sections of the Nepal-China connecting bridge and highway approach roads.


Gandaki Province: Landslides Disrupt Kaligandaki Corridor

📍 Baglung Municipality-10, Dablyaz

  • Road Affected: Kaligandaki Corridor

  • Status: ⚠️ Open One-Way Only

  • Cause: Heavy landslides have narrowed the road to a single operational lane.

📍 Galkot Municipality-11, Kause (Mid-Hill Highway)

  • Road Affected: Midhill Lokmarg (H10)

  • Status: ⚠️ Open One-Way Only

  • Cause: Landslides continue to pose a high risk in this area.


Lumbini Province: Widespread Road Disruptions

📍 Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-9, Masare (Gulmi)

  • Road Affected: Kaligandaki Corridor

  • Status: ⚠️ One-Way Open

  • Cause: Moderate landslide activity is ongoing.

📍 Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-4, Balba (Gulmi)

  • Road Affected: Kaligandaki Corridor

  • Status: ❌ Fully Blocked

  • Cause: A major landslide has collapsed the entire road segment.

📍 Parivartan Rural Municipality-3, Bhramar (Rolpa)

  • Road Affected: Shaheed Marg (Martyr’s Road)

  • Status: ⚠️ One-Way Open

  • Cause: Landslide partially cleared for restricted vehicle flow.

📍 Pyuthan Municipality-10, Hadgaira – Bamduwa Road Section

  • Road Affected: Madhyapahadi Sadak (Middle Hills Road)

  • Status: ⚠️ One-Way Open

  • Cause: Slopes remain unstable with occasional rockfalls.


Karnali Province: Bhairi Corridor Severely Impacted

📍 Aathbiskot Municipality-6, Rijingar (Rukum West)

  • Road Affected: Jajarkot-Dolpa Bhairi Corridor

  • Status: ❌ Fully Blocked

  • Cause: Flash floods have submerged entire road segments.

📍 Tripurasundari Municipality-9, Chhachhat (Dolpa)

  • Road Affected: Bhairi Corridor

  • Status: ❌ Fully Blocked

  • Cause: Extensive flooding; no alternate detour available.


Suggested Travel Precautions

  • Avoid nighttime travel in hilly areas during heavy rainfall.

  • Keep emergency contact numbers for local traffic police and municipality road departments.

  • Follow real-time updates from the Nepal Police Traffic Division and Department of Roads (DoR).
