The Austrian manufacturer KTM has recently unveiled the X-Bow GTX, another super sports car from its KTM Sportcar GmbH division, the only car manufacturer in Austria. The sports car division was inaugurated by the motorcycle brand 12 years ago with the introduction of the KTM X-Bow while it is deliberately taking the game ahead with multiple sports car versions that are sold all over the world.

Commenting on the recently developed KTM X-Bow GTX, Hubert Trunkenpolz, a KTM board member said, “We transfer KTM’s essential brand elements – extreme, performance and purity – together with KTM’s core areas of expertise, which include state-of-the-art motorsports technology, extremely lightweight construction and the highest quality components, in a racing car that clearly reflects the signs of the times. In motorsport, it is necessary to focus development on a superior power-to-weight ratio to be even faster with economical, more efficient small volume engines. The knowledge acquired from this process must then also be incorporated into the series development.”

The recently unveiled KTM X-Bow GTX is powered by a 2.5-litre, five-cylinder engine sourced from Audi and is capable of offering maximum power of 600HP. With a kerb weight of 1000kgs, the power-to-weight ratio of the sports car stands at less than 2kg/HP. After getting the immediate approval from the SRO, KTM Sportcar GmbH will be the third sports car manufacturer after Audi and Porsche that will enter the GT2 racing series in the world. The KTM X-Bow GTX super sports car will enter the GT2 racing championship against the likes of Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport and Audi R8 LMS GT2.

With an overall sharper design language and proportionately aesthetic designing elements, the sports car looks extraordinary on just a single glance. Though it is yet to receive its final homologation from SRO, it might be included in other GT racing series such as Nurburgring Langstrecken series, GT open and more. The KTM X-Bow GTX is expected to be participating in its first-ever SRO event which is set to be held by the end of this year. In addition to this, KTM is also planning to organize a One-Make Cup series which will feature the X-Bow GTX in the year 2021.
