Around 2000 cases of bike theft are reported annually in the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, Nepal. According to the same report, in most cases of bike theft, the bikes are either stolen for sale or their parts are stolen for sale. Only 10% of the bikes reported missing at the Metropolitan Traffic Police are recovered annually. It has also been found that 90 percent of the bikes that are said to be lost are sold as spare parts by the dealer and thus become an easy source of income for thieves.

As the number of such cases increased every year, the main priority of all motorcyclists should be to secure their motorcycles. But according to stats, only less than half of motorcyclists seem to be aware of the safety of their bikes and adopt various safety measures for bike safety. The rest of them are unaware of bike safety tips or bothersome/reckless to apply these safety tips.

We've listed five important safety tips to help you reduce the risk of this type of incidence and keep your motorcycle safe from the thief and bike-lifters. By adopting these safety measures, bike thieves are less attracted to your motorcycle:

1. Alarm and immobilizer:

A motorcyclist needs to install an alarm and immobilizer system on his bike. This type of system helps protect your bike from thieves. In addition, setting up such a system can also help in reducing the fully fixed insurance premium. A manufacturer-fitted motorcycle alarm or a motorbike alarm equipped by a factory-trained technician can always protect your bike from bike thieves.

2. Disc locks, brake-locks, and motorcycle locks:

This is one of the most effective ways to keep a bike safe from bike-lifters or bike thieves. Large motorcycle chain locks and motorcycle cable locks help to stabilize the bike. By taking such measures, thieves can steal the bike only with the help of a van and in doing so they have to pick up the immovable bike which is a struggle. You can protect your bike from such bike lifters or thieves by installing an alarm immobilizer system with a disc lock.

3. Parking safety:

Only by using the strongest and most sophisticated modern locks when adopting parking safety methods can protect your bike from bike-lifters. The place where you park your bike plays an important role for professional thieves. If the parked motorcycle is out of sight or there is very little passenger traffic around the parked site, it is considered to be a very good environment for bike lifting. This kind of environment provides professional thieves enough space and time to steal your bike. In the same way, thieves are also monitoring the habits of motorcyclists. So adopting an unexpected bike parking safety method can always help protect the bike from bike lifters.

4. Garage handling:

In most cases of bike theft, most of the thieves are found to have stolen the bike from the owner's house. You can use anchor locks and chains by using such lockers on a fixed floor or wall or ground. This easily fitted method can be easily installed on the garage wall or on the ground to lock the motorcycle and it can help protect the bike from theft from the house.

5. Fixed Surface Lock - Trouble or Discernment:

Locking around ground surfaces always makes the bike safer. This increases the difficulty level to lift the motorbike. Most motorcyclists may see this as a nuisance as it is a bit of a hassle compared to taking a leisurely measure. But it is also an important way of dealing with the stress and expense of having a motorcycle stolen.
